We check every guide against primary sources, but mistakes can happen and GOV.UK guidance changes. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
How to report a mistake
Email smartsoletrader@cragsidemedia.co.uk with:
- the page address
- the detail you think is wrong
- a link to the source, if you have one
What we do
- We check the detail against the primary source, usually GOV.UK.
- If we got it wrong, we correct the guide and update its “Last checked” date.
- If the correction changes the meaning, for example a rule, date, figure, threshold or software status, we add a dated note to the guide and list it below.
- Typos and small wording fixes are corrected without a note.
Updates are not corrections
When GOV.UK changes its guidance, we update our guides to match. These are updates, not corrections, and we note significant ones on the page.
